The engines were not operated during survey, but from external examination they appear to be in good condition. This report is not an engine survey. Analog engine hour meters show1679 hours port, and 1690 hours stbd.
ADDITIONAL NOTES and DEFICIENCIES:
1. Tanks are not fully accessible for inspection and surveyor cannot speak as to their condition, but they do not appear to leak at this time.
2. Life raft was manufactured in December of 2004, Investigate when replacement/re-certification is required.
3. EPIRB unit is expired (10/31/02) and in need of replacement.
4. A significant amount of water was sighted in dinghy and its engine compartment.
5. with recommendations complied with, this vessel is suitable for its' intended purpose of local coastal pleasure.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. The MSD overboard discharge valve need to have a locking mechanism installed. Comply with 33 CFR 159.7- Discharging sewage in a "No Discharge Zone" is in violation of CFR and Section 312 of the 1972 Clean Water Act.
2. Engine exhaust hoses must be double clamped. Inspect exhaust clamping on both port and starboard engines. Install second stainless steel exhaust hose clamps where needed.
3. Investigate source of water leakage on dinghy. Repair as necessary.
4. Battery terminals must be covered per NFPA [removed phone].6 recommendations to prevent accidental shorting.
5. Batteries must be secured and contained in a liquid-tight, acid-proof container per NFPA [removed phone].4 and 7-3.5 recommendations.
