A 7" bulwark extends the topside freeboard. Exterior shows an ivory colored gel coat hull with Royal blue boot top accent and varnished wood trim rub rail and cap rail. Topsides are distinguished with the vessel's name "VICTORIA" and hailing port placed in black lettering P&S (port and starboard) on the stern quarter and the outside placed s/s (stainless steel) shroud chain plates. The beam is wide amidships and pinched towards the stern which is double ended and fitted with an outside hanging barn door rudder. The underwater wetted surface area shows a spoon entrance extending down to a full keel of some 4' draft. The all fiberglass constructed hull has been completely decked over with a 2-toned white and beige molded nonskid fiberglass deck. The decks perimeter is surrounded by a 7" high molded bulwark fitted with a peeling varnish 4" teak wood cap rail. S/s pipe stanchions support double s/s wire lifelines which connect to a s/s pipe pulpit fitted off a teak landing and laminated bowsprit mounted off the bow. Double anchor rollers and an anchor ready to deploy is mounted followed by manual anchor windlass. Foredeck is crowded with staysail boom placement, anchor windlass and cleats. A trunk cabin is placed amidships and set off with a series of four round opening bronze portholes to either side. The coach roof has a forward ventilation escape hatch, a pair of low mounted ventilation cowls, a Charley Noble chimney and two offset dorades. A double set of teak grab rails are mounted. An offset, turtle covered sliding companionway hatch is fitted aft and equipped with drop boards. A bridge deck separates the cabin from a self-draining cockpit to stern. Cockpit is surrounded by a combing. Cockpit sole is removable for access to machinery below. Basic machinery instrumentation and controls are fitted. The vessel is rigged as a cutter with the mast mounted in a tabernacle which allows the rig to be lowered for transiting under bridges. Auxiliary power is provided by an inboard fresh water cooled 3-cylinder diesel engine.Accommodations are laid out in a traditional manner as follows:Behind the forward chain locker is a raised V-berth with teak liner, shelves and storage under. The overhead hatch provides some natural light and an escape route. The wardrobe closet is placed port along with 12 V electrical outlets, four drawers and one bin. A bulkhead and shared doorway separate the forepeak from the mid-bow which is set up with an enclosed marine sanitation device locker to starboard and a wardrobe locker with shelf across the way. The main salon is amidships. A raised galley counter with shallow s/s sink, gimbaled alcohol stove and covered is placed the port. A U-shaped dinette arrangement with a high low table and seating arrangement for four to starboard. A shelf is also fitted, storage compartments under and electrical distribution panel on the after bulkhead. Machinery is directly under the bridge deck and is accessed by removable companionway five step ladder. The port is a forward facing sit down navigation station, wood shelving on the side and a pilot birth tucked under the cockpit aft.Exterior equipment and deck hardware include teak rails, rub rails and handrails, laminated bowsprit, with teak platform and s/s bow pulpit. Single lifelines and stanchions with port and starboard gates. Interior appointments include fiberglass liner, cabin sole made with removable hatches so entire bilges accessible. Oiled teak and mahogany cabinetry and trim. Heavy-duty handrails. Top loading icebox under dinette seat. Royal blue colored stain resistant decorative upholstery. 6'-2" head room and main cabin interior lighting, numerous drawers and storage compartments. TYPE OF CONSTRUCTIONThe WESTSAIL 28 has been constructed entirely out of fiberglass-reinforced plastics by WESTSAIL CORP. circa 1976/1978. The hull has been molded fabricated utilizing alternating layers of fiberglass mat and biaxial woven cloth which have been hand laid within a female mold utilizing iso-phantholic polyester resin as a laminating agent. Ballast is of lead shot molded into the keel envelope eliminating the need for keel bolt connections. The ballast weight as designed is reported near 4200 lbs. (Though in some earlier brochures and publications the displacement is less and the ballast weight was reported as 3500 LBS) An internal molded fiberglass liner has been fitted and set up with a structural floor pan providing stiffening while transverse plywood full and partial bulkheads have been bonded completely to the hull sides provide transverse strength and dividing the accommodation. Supplemental bonding laminates are added at bulkhead and floor attachments for additional strength. Plywood cored molded fiberglass deck and cabin assembly have been bonded as well as through bolted to the deck flange which has been bedded in mastic and through bolted every 6". Solid reinforced areas are constructed at points under the d mast mount and deck fittings (winches, tracks, chain plates, cleats). The exterior of the vessel has an ivory NPG fiberglass gel coat surface finish. The bottom of the boat has been painted with an ablative anti-fouling paint."This listing has now been on the market a couple months.
